4/21/16

Dear Parents,
Wow, what a fun week!  Our author visit was today.  The students loved listening to her story about chasing her dream of being an artist and an author.
The 8th grade and 4th grade students had reasons to celebrate this week.  Read below to check out their accomplishments!
Mrs. Meisenheimer and I attended science professional development in Des Moines yesterday.  We are preparing for the big changes that are coming in science standards in the next couple of years.
Lastly, if you have zero plans this weekend come check out this Spotlight dancer at the high school. Yours truly will be dancing the adult clog number!  I took the class to meet people and get some exercise.  But instead, I was reminded what it was like to be the kid that struggles with a new task and how I shouldn’t give up when things get tough!  Even though dancing is not my talent I will sure give it my all this weekend!

JA Biz Town
JA BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. St. Malachy students will learn how to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. We are very excited to have added this program to our St. Malachy curriculum.  This unit will help students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Our 5th grade students will be going on April 26, 2016
